Dr. James Stewart (late) received his M.S. from Stanford University (USA) and his Ph.D. from the University of Toronto (Canada). He did research at the University of London (UK) and was influenced by the famous mathematician George Polya at Stanford University. Dr. James was most recently Professor of Mathematics at McMaster University (Canada), and his research field was harmonic analysis.
James was the author of a best-selling calculus textbook series published by Cengage Learning, including CALCULUS: EARLY TRANSCENDENTALS, CALCULUS, and CALCULUS: CONCEPTS AND CONTEXTS, as well as a series of precalculus textbooks.
In 2015, Dr. Stewart was posthumously awarded the Meritorious Service Cross.
