Jerry Weyngandt

CPAs Outstanding Educator's Award and Lifetime Achievement Award.

Dr. Jerry J. Weygandt is an Arthur Andersen professor of accounting at the University of Wisconsin-Madison receiving the 2001 American Accounting Association’s Outstanding Accounting Educator Award as well as the Wisconsin Institute of CPAs Outstanding Educator’s Award and Lifetime Achievement Award.

Dr. Weyngandt has served on the FASB task force that examined the reporting issues related to accounting for income taxes. Articles by Professor Jerry have appeared in the Journal of Accounting Research, Accounting Review, Accounting Horizons, Journal of Accountancy, and many other academic and professional journals.


To take a trivial example, which of us ever undertakes laborious physical exercise, except to obtain some advantage from it? But who has any right to find fault with a man who chooses to enjoy a pleasure that has no annoying consequences, or one who avoids a pain that produces no resultant pleasure? On the other hand, we denounce with righteous indignation and dislike menwho are so beguiled and demoralized by the charms of pleasure of the moment, so blinded by desire, that they cannot foresee.
